How do second-generation Dutch citizens with a migrant background view their country of birth? This short, poetic animated documentary uses anecdotes, physical insecurities and candid conversations to show how being treated as the Other becomes internalised.
In 2024 I had the chance to compose a soundtrack together with Oscar Mosterd for the short film “Alleen Hier Ben Ik Thuis”. We worked in close collaboration with the films sound designer to ensure a a clear synergy between the two mediums. Taking elements from the sound design and incorperating them in the soundtrack and vice versa.
Since its creation the film has since gone on to be featured at multiple large animation film festivals such as the NFF and Kaboom Festival. The films creator Michael Hauwert won that years Filmfonds Wildcard Award.
